It may not come as a surprise to you that one of the most frequently asked questions in boudoir is “but what do I do with my face and my hands?”
You aren’t alone. We all struggle with making our face look “natural” or not having T-rex arms in our photos. Here are some quick tips/tricks to help you figure out what to do with ya face and ya hands.
Face: Close your eyes

You don’t need to stare directly at the camera every single time you take the photo. Don’t get me wrong, we love direct eye contact, but if you are uncomfortable with it, don’t be afraid to close your eyes in the photos. This gives a more natural, relaxed, soft look to your photos.
Face: Breathe through your mouth

The best way to make your face look more relaxed and natural in photos is to breathe through your mouth rather than your nose. This also helps part your lips for photos so you are so “tight” mouthed in each one. For those of you self conscious of your teeth (because I am too) just part your mouth slightly to breathe to hide your teeth behind your lips a little more.
Face: Look off into the distance

Don’t want to close your eyes? That’s ok! Try staring off into “the distance” in your photos. Pick a vocal point (outside a window, corner of the room) and gently gaze over your shoulder to that point. This way, we can see your eyes in photos, but without the direct eye contact.
Hands: Make Triangles

This one goes for your body as well, but you want to create triangles when you are posing. If you are struggling with where to place your hands, try placing them in your hair, on the side of you, behind you. If you have a window frame, place one of your hands gently against it.
Hands: Hold Your Props

Whatever you are wearing, hold onto it with your hands. If it’s a sheet, clench it to your chest, while using the other hand to prop you up. If it’s a shirt or a sweater, use it to hold the shirt up to show off different angles of you body. Wearing underwear? Use one hand to grab your panties and the other holding on to a strap on your bra. Use your clothes to help guide your hands.
